Kickstart – My employee’s placement is ending, what next?

The Kickstart Scheme has given over 100,000 young people the chance to prove themselves, and helped businesses fill short-term staffing gaps at a near-zero cost. With the right match, those employees are now integral members of the team - so what happens when the six-month placement ends?

What does an Apprenticeship offer?

An apprenticeship will provide the ongoing training and coaching to continue your Kickstart employee's development while maximising the results for your business. For example, our digital marketing apprenticeship provides a 15-month programme that is 95% government funded. That’s £11,000 of ongoing training and coaching for just £550.

It also means your Kickstart will be on track to earn a qualification recognised by both BCS, the Chartered Institute of IT, and the Chartered institute of Marketing, while continuing to build their career. They’re likely to stick around! In fact, the vast majority of our apprentices stay on with their employer after completing the programme.

How much will it cost?

The 15-month programme will cost just £550. The national average salary for an entry-level Digital Marketer is £20,000. We suggest you start at £16,000 (£18,000 for London) and then set KPIs which enable their salary to grow by £1,000 increments so by the time they graduate from the Academy they are at the national average of £20,000.

You do not pay Employer’s NIC for an under 25y apprentice so this will save your business around £1,300 per year per apprentice.

So that’s around £1,500 per month for a full-time employee receiving expert coaching and training to help get your business in front of more of the right customers. And they already know your business!
